Back to School Health Tips

With children heading back to school, we know there are a lot of nervous parents out there who are worried about germs and keeping their kids healthy. Not to worry! We know your kids will love being back with friends and learning fun new things.

The Dandenong Dental Care team has five easy tips your little ones can follow to keep germs at bay and health in their lives. Share these tips with them as they head back into the classroom.

Wash your hands! It is recommended that children should wash their hands after playing with shared toys, eating, or going outside.

Make sure kids get plenty of rest. A healthy immune system needs time to recover during sleep. Did you know that school-aged children, 5-12, need at least 9 hours of sleep each night? Many only get 7 or less.

Pack healthy lunches full of fruits and vegetables so they get their daily intake of necessary vitamins and nutrients. Water is also key for health. Can’t get them to drink water? Try purchasing a reusable bottle with their favourite cartoon character on it.

Follow the recommended public health advice for your area, including masks and social distancing if possible.

Book children a visit with our team! As overall health is critical to oral health, keeping teeth healthy is just one of many ways you can help them thrive. We look forward to seeing you (and them) in the practice soon.
